You find yourself trapped in a most unpleasant box. You’ve been struggling to escape for a while, now, but there seems no way out. Perhaps this is your first time in the box. You’d heard about it, from others, but never imagined you could end up here yourself.
Or maybe you’ve been here before?
Perhaps you got out, somehow, once upon a time, emerging briefly only to find yourself trapped once again.
In fact, the only way out of the box is to stop trying to escape.
That is the paradox. That is the riddle. That is the answer.
You must accept that you are in the box and that you may never come out of it. But that’s okay—getting out is not your goal. Your job is to build meaning, however you can, however you’re able, for however long you’re here.
It will take time. It will be hard. It will hurt.
It will change you.
But it will be worth it. You will build a meaningful life. And in doing so, you will make the box meaningless.
